History of ARAM

Founded in 1971 as Geo-X Systems Ltd., ARAM began its history as a seismic data processing firm – eventually becoming the largest independent seismic data processing company in Canada. Beginning in the early 1980s, we expanded the business to include seismic data acquisition, ultimately operating five, what were then, large channel 3D crews.

Following years of research and development, in 1991 Geo-X entered the world of instrument manufacturing with a new Affordable Remote Acquisition Module. ARAM was born - a new “contractor-oriented” seismic recording system that met the challenge of large channel 3D operations. This new system introduced the concept of “Network Telemetry” with its unprecedented flexibility, ease of use, and the industry’s first PC-based user interface.

Since the development of our first recording system in 1991, ARAM has become the second largest independent supplier of land seismic equipment in the world, with several hundreds of thousands of channels deployed in every environment from the arctic to the equator, from the desert to tidal mud flats.
